The Estate The vineyard
Improving and enriching our vineyard year after year
In 2017, our vineyard only consisted of 2 hectares of thirty years old Merlot vines located at the foot of the Château, and now spans over 17 hectares, over half of the Château's estate.
The first expansion took place in 2017, with 14.5 hectares of vines being added, primarily Merlot, but also Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon. Afterwards, in 2019, we added another 0.42 ha of Merlot and 0.28 ha of Cabernet Franc, both over 40 years old. Finally, we planted 1 hectare of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris in 2021, to further diversify the varieties at our disposal.
The Château's ecological approach
Protecting and increasing the biodiversity of our vineyard is a crucial part of our work. We are strong believers in the long-term benefits of this approach in order to maintain the health of the vineyard and the park. Truffle oaks and almond trees have also been planted, and further embellish our estate in addition to our beehives.
Ecological hedgerows spanning over 1.6 km have been planted to attract a variety of pollinating insects and to protect our waterways, most notably the Ruisseau de Marquelot, which crosses through our estate.
Furthermore, we have completely forgone chemical weeding in favour of a mechanical approach. We mostly use natural fertilizers and collect rainwater that is filtered and recycled.
Our estate is also home to a large natural spring, which plays a major part in promoting our biodiversity.
